June 14, 2014 – Intro to Advocacy and Media Relations

We’re excited to announce we’re hosting a special support group meeting on Saturday, June 14 from 12-3 p.m. In addition to holding our regular meeting, we will learn about how to become effective PH advocates, by meeting with local elected officials and speaking with the media!

Entitled “An Introduction to Advocacy and Media Relations,” this in-person, three-hour session will be featured in our upcoming meeting on Saturday, June 14, 2014. It will be led by two consultants currently supporting PHA Canada on various other activities:

Ryan Clarke, advocacy expert from Advocacy Solutions
Joanne Koskie, public relations specialist from Cohn & Wolfe

The session is designed to help familiarize our chapter members with the advocacy process and to learn how sharing our stories with elected officials and local media can influence change.

Advocacy expert Ryan Clarke, and public relations specialist Joanne Koskie, will lead four informative and empowering discussions, covering the following topics:

- Introduction to advocacy
- Introduction to media relations
- The drug approval process in Canada
- Getting engaged in your community

When: Saturday, June 14, 2014 from 12 – 3 p.m.

Where: Novotel North York, 3 Park Home Ave, Toronto, ON M2N 6L3

Lunch will be served. No cost.

May 5, 2014 – CN Tower Lights Up for World PH Day

CN Tower lights up on May 5 for World PH Day!

On May 5, 2014 the CN Tower lights purple and white for World Pulmonary Hypertension Awareness Day. A standard light show will run for 8 minutes at the top of every hour. Please note the lighting will begin at sunset, however it won’t become fully visible until the sky darkens sufficiently approximately 30 minutes later.

The CN Tower is an awe-inspiring architectural and engineering wonder of the world that is a symbol of pride for Toronto residents, Ontario residents and all Canadians. The Tower’s new lighting system is designed to architecturally enhance the CN Tower structure from bottom to top, providing elegant night time illumination honouring the legacy of this national icon and landmark.
